PATIENT CARE SERVICES
 
  The changes occurring in the healthcare industry have given rise to multiple new demands and challenges, including reorganization and redesign of patient care services. The issues facing today's Nurse Executive are extremely complex and diverse, including the pressure of an increasingly complex role expansion and the necessity to integrate services and decisions vertically and horizontally within the organization. Decreased lengths of stay, faster patient turnover and fewer resources have combined to create a constantly changing environment.
 
  The Nurse Executive must understand this changing environment and the resultant impacts upon the delivery of patient care. Highly developed management skills are necessary to balance the volume of demands with associated time constraints, design new service delivery approaches, provide quality patient outcomes, maintain productivity, and contribute to the organization's financial stability.
 
  Quality Systems Group's expertise can be assistive in improving patient care delivery by:
  • Designing an organizational plan for patient care delivery.
     
  • Evaluating performance improvement programs including plans, committee structure, indicators and reports.
     
  • Providing Nurse Executive and manager training and team building.
     
  • Introducing alternative patient care documentation systems including critical pathways, care maps, and other formats for interdisciplinary charting.
     
  • Developing staffing plans and guidelines.
     
  • Assessing patient classification or acuity systems for effectiveness and meaningfulness.

  • Educating leaders and managers in budget development and financial performance.

  • Performing JCAHO accreditation, Medicare Conditions of Participation and other regulatory readiness surveys.
